Marathon Training - Week 8 Preview

This is week eight of the Denver Marathon Training Plan (+ some swim & bike training). Once again, last week was quite a deviation from my training plan. I was supposed to do 40 miles of running, with long run of 16 miles yesterday. Apathy and hot weather left me with half that much, including a long run of only 12 miles.

To make matters worse, I feel like I'm slowing down. Early in my training, I was clicking off even my easy runs at better than my goal race pace. Now, I'm struggling on those runs, as well as on my long runs.

I'll try again to get into the groove and get closer to my intended workouts.

Plan for this week:

WeekdayWorkouts
Monday:OFF
Tuesday:Bike 9.5 miles (easy commute to the pool)
Swim 3000 meters (long, moderate efforts)
Bike 4.5 miles (easy commute to work)
Run 4 miles (mod hard effort@ 8 min/mi)
Bike 8.5 miles (easy commute from work)
Wednesday:Bike 8.5 miles (easy commuting to work)
Run 8 miles (easy/aerobic effort @ 9:00 min/mi)
Bike 8.5 miles (easy commuting from work)
Thursday:Bike 8.5 miles (easy commuting to work)
Run 4 miles (aerobic effort @ 8:00/mi)
Bike 8.5 miles (easy commuting from work)
Friday:Swim 3000 meters (endurance/form workout)
Saturday:Ride 78 miles (easy/mod - Copper Triangle)
Run 8 miles (Transition Run)
Sunday:Run 17 miles (@ marathon pace minus 45 to 90 seconds)

Goal Totals
Swim: ~2.0 hrs, 6000 meters
Bike: ~8.25 hrs, 135 miles
Run: ~ 6.5 hrs, 41 miles

Total Goal Hours: 16.75 hrs
